An established and highly prestigious Higher Education organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its Estates and Maintenance team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical professional looking for long-term career stability within a complex and varied building services environment.
Working as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, ensuring critical electrical infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
*Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical plant, equipment and systems.
*Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime and service disruption.
*Complete maintenance activities in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice.
*Update maintenance records and job reports using CAFM systems.
*Support project works, equipment replacements and infrastructure upgrades.
*Assist with the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
*Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance.
*Provide excellent customer service to building users and stakeholders.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and technical teams.
Essential Requirements
*18th Edition City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an Electrical discipline.
*Proven experience maintaining and repairing electrical building services systems.
*Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
*Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
*Strong communication and customer service skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a busy maintenance team.
Technical Experience
Candidates should have experience with a range of electrical systems, including:
*LV power distribution and switchgear.
*Single and three-phase electrical systems.
*Electrical testing and inspection.
*Lighting and emergency lighting systems.
*Fire alarm systems.
*CCTV and access control systems.
*UPS and standby power systems.
*Motors, inverters and control systems.
*BMS/BEMS systems.
*General building services plant and equipment.
