Full time hours on a temporary basis
We are seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to join a dynamic procurement and commercial team, leading the delivery of high-value construction, regeneration, housing development, and capital works procurements.
This is a strategic yet hands-on role where you will provide expert procurement and commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will lead end-to-end procurement activity, manage complex tender processes, develop commercial strategies, and ensure contracts deliver value, quality, and successful project outcomes.
The role requires someone who is confident managing multiple procurement projects, drafting procurement documentation, advising stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and driving procurement best practice throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead the procurement of major construction, regeneration, housing, capital works, and professional services contracts.
*Develop and implement category and procurement strategies aligned to business objectives.
*Manage end-to-end procurement processes from market engagement through to contract award and mobilisation.
*Produce and oversee tender documentation, specifications, evaluation criteria, and contract terms.
*Provide commercial advice and procurement guidance to project teams and senior stakeholders.
*Lead supplier negotiations and support effective contract management throughout delivery.
*Develop procurement project plans ensuring compliance with legislation, governance, programme deadlines, and budget requirements.
*Manage procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise commercial and legal exposure.
*Promote sustainable procurement, social value, and responsible sourcing principles.
*Support supplier relationship management and continuous improvement initiatives.
*Ensure compliance with Public Procurement Regulations and internal governance requirements.
