About the RoleTradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an outstanding secondary school in Sunderland, seeking a talented and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026.
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a high-achieving and supportive school renowned for its excellent standards, strong leadership, and commitment to student success. The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and innovative lessons that inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence.
The school benefits from excellent facilities and a well-resourced Design & Technology department, providing an ideal environment for both students and staff to thrive. Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
*Assess, monitor, and support student progress
*Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
*Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
*Ensure all practical activities are delivered safely and in line with workshop health and safety requirements
*Contribute positively to the wider school community

Requirements*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
*Experience teaching Design & Technology within a UK secondary school

*Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Design & Technology
*Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations
*Two professional references covering the last two years
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
*A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
