The Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is looking for enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutors to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition to learners across St Helens.
You’ll support learners working towards Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications, delivering personalised lessons that improve literacy, numeracy and confidence in everyday life and employment.
This flexible tutoring role is ideal for experienced teachers or tutors who enjoy working individually with learners and adapting lessons to meet their needs.
Position Details
* Location: St Helens
* Position: Functional Skills Tutor
* Hours: 5-15 hours per week
* Start Date: September 2026
* Duration: Ongoing
Experience, Training and Qualifications
Successful applicants will have:
* Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths
* A recognised teaching qualification or relevant tutoring experience
* Strong communication skills
* A supportive and learner-focused approach
To be eligible, you must:
* Hold the Right to Work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
* Provide two professional references
