Start Date: Immediate / £300 PER DAY UMBRELLA OR HOURLY RATE PAYE 31.64 / UMBRELLA 41.67
About the Role
A Brent-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced SEND Case Officer to manage a caseload of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will be responsible for coordinating statutory SEND processes, drafting and reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), managing annual reviews, securing appropriate educational placements, and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory timescales.
Key Responsibilities
*Draft, amend and review EHCPs within statutory deadlines.
*Manage annual reviews, phase transfers and complex SEND casework.
*Liaise with parents, carers, schools, SENCOs and multi-agency professionals.
*Secure suitable educational placements and monitor placement suitability.
*Advise families and schools on SEND processes, assessments and support available.
*Attend review and multi-agency meetings as required.
*Maintain accurate case records and ensure legal compliance.
*Prepare responses to complaints, tribunal cases and legal challenges where required.
About You
*Previous experience as a SEND Case Officer, EHCP Coordinator, SEND Officer or similar.
*Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 0–25.
*Experience drafting, reviewing and amending EHCPs.
*Ability to manage a complex caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Local Authority SEND experience is highly desirable.
