Part-Time (21 Hours) | Hybrid | East London | 18-Month Fixed-Term Contract
This is initially an interim position, with the high possibility of going permanent, and applicants available immediately are highly preferred.
I’m delighted to be partnering with one of London’s most respected charities, in the search for a Head of Governance, Risk & Safeguarding. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced governance professional looking for a strategic, values-driven role where their expertise will directly support an organisation committed to tackling poverty, injustice and inequality.
Working closely with the Director of People, Culture & Governance, the Board of Trustees and senior leadership team, you’ll take ownership of governance, risk management and safeguarding assurance across the organisation. Acting as Secretary to the Board and its Committees, you’ll ensure robust governance processes, effective decision-making and strong organisational oversight.
The Opportunity:
*Lead the governance cycle for the Board of Trustees and Committees.
*Coordinate agendas, board papers, minutes and action tracking.
*Develop and maintain the corporate risk register and support risk reporting.
*Oversee organisational policy management and governance compliance.
*Coordinate safeguarding assurance reporting and governance alongside the organisational DSL.
*Support trustees, committee chairs and senior leaders with governance best practice and organisational assurance.
*Help strengthen governance frameworks, accountability and organisational culture across the charity.
About You:
*Significant experience within governance, company secretarial, governance & compliance or governance & risk roles.
*Previous experience supporting Boards and Committees, ideally acting as Board or Committee Secretary.
*Excellent minute-taking and board administration skills.
*Strong understanding of governance frameworks, charity governance and trustee responsibilities.
*Experience maintaining risk registers and supporting organisational assurance.
*Knowledge of safeguarding governance and reporting.
*Outstanding organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
*The confidence to work with senior leaders, trustees and external stakeholders while managing sensitive information with integrity.
