Full job descriptionHigher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)Location: Bexley
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026 or October 2026
We are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated primary school team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, supporting pupils both in the classroom and through targeted intervention programmes.
About the RoleAs a HLTA, you will:
*Deliver planned learning activities to whole classes, small groups and individual pupils in the absence of the class teacher or under their guidance.
*Support teaching and learning across KS1 and KS2 to help pupils make excellent progress.
*Lead intervention sessions that meet the needs of learners with a range of abilities.
*Establish high expectations for behaviour and maintain a positive, purposeful learning environment.
*Work closely with teachers and other members of staff to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
*Assist with assessment, preparation of learning resources and wider school activities where appropriate.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:*Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or an equivalent relevant qualification.
*Has successful experience working within a primary school setting.
*Is confident leading learning with whole classes, as well as delivering effective support to small and larger groups of pupils.
*Has excellent behaviour management skills and can build positive relationships with children.
*Demonstrates strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
*Is enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to helping every child succeed.
*Understands and promotes safeguarding and child protection procedures.
