Job Description:
Full job descriptionMain Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive accounting and financial management service across the Group, supporting business objectives and ensuring financial obligations are met within agreed budgets and financial constraints.
Key Duties
*Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, financial plans, and cash flow forecasts.
*Work closely with budget holders to monitor expenditure, maintain financial control, and support effective budget management.
*Collaborate with the Group Financial Controller, Finance Director, and Senior Leadership Team to produce and deliver executive-level financial reports and insights.
*Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the Group’s trading companies, while supporting the Trainee Accountant with transactional finance activities as required.
*Attend monthly management account meetings with budget holders and the Financial Controller, providing financial analysis and addressing queries.
*Act as the key finance contact for internal and external auditors, preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation before, during, and after audits.
*Manage day-to-day treasury activities, ensuring effective cash management across the Group.
*Provide cover for the Group Financial Controller during periods of absence.
Financial Reporting & Control
*Deliver monthly management accounts for all trading companies in line with period-end deadlines, including balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and detailed variance analysis.
*Ensure consistent budgetary control processes are applied across all arm’s-length companies.
*Provide regular financial information and analysis to Company Directors and operational managers, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
*Support the development and evaluation of business cases, offering financial guidance and recommending cost-effective solutions and best practices.
*Ensure all statutory returns and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.
Business Partnering
*Develop strong working relationships with operational managers, providing proactive financial support, challenge, and guidance to drive financial control, operational efficiency, and value for money.
*Act as a trusted business partner, using financial insight to support informed decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
Representation
*Represent the Group and its companies at internal and external meetings as required, maintaining professional and effective stakeholder relationships.
