About the Role
We’re looking for a QTS-qualified Science Tutor to support children and young people across Southampton and the surrounding Hampshire areas through personalised 1:1 tuition.
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you’ll help learners who require alternative educational provision, supporting them to build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes in Science. Many students have experienced disruption to their education and benefit from a tailored approach that meets their individual needs.
This is a great opportunity for qualified teachers seeking a more flexible role where they can focus on making a direct impact with individual learners.
*Location: Southampton & Surrounding Hampshire Areas

*Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
*Type: 1:1 Tuition


Key Responsibilities
*Deliver engaging and personalised Science tuition
*Adapt learning to suit individual needs and learning styles
*Support students in building confidence and academic progress
*Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement
*Monitor progress and provide session feedback where required


Requirements
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
*Minimum 6 months’ experience in an educational setting, including teaching, or tutoring
*Strong Science subject knowledge up to GCSE
*Experience supporting students with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

*Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
*ADHD
*Anxiety and school avoidance
*EHCPs and other additional educational needs
