Deputy Manager - Children’s Residential Home
Location: Thornton Heath, Croydon
Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Full-time, rota-based, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and participation in the on-call rota.
The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in leading a children’s residential home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day management of the home, supporting staff, maintaining high-quality care standards and helping create a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the home.
*Lead shifts, supervise staff and promote a positive team culture.
*Ensure the home remains compliant with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards.
*Oversee care planning, key working and support plans to achieve positive outcomes.
*Promote safeguarding, manage incidents appropriately and support multi-agency working.
*Monitor records, audits and quality assurance processes to ensure continuous improvement.
*Assist with Ofsted inspections, action plans and maintaining inspection readiness.
*Support recruitment, staff development, supervision and performance management.
*Participate in the management on-call rota and provide leadership cover when required.
About You
You’ll be a confident and supportive leader with experience within children’s residential care and a passion for delivering outstanding care.
Essential Requirements
*Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
*Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
*Previous experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting.
*Experience supervising or leading teams within residential childcare.
*Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
*Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
*Full UK Driving Licence.
*Flexible to work a rota, including weekends, bank holidays and on-call duties.
