Hours: 36 hours per week (8.30am - 4.30pm, with 30-minute lunch break)

Reed Education is partnering with a successful and growing Multi-Academy Trust in Outer London to recruit an experienced HR & Governance Director.
This is a high-profile leadership role offering the opportunity to shape people strategy, governance, compliance, and organisational development across a complex and ambitious trust. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leaders and trustees, you will play a key role in supporting the trust’s continued growth and success.

The Role
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership across HR, governance, compliance, legal matters, and data protection. You will lead workforce planning, organisational development, employee relations, governance support, and regulatory compliance while ensuring the trust remains an employer of choice.
Key Responsibilities
*Advise the CEO, Executive Team and Trustees on HR, governance, compliance and organisational matters.
*Develop and deliver workforce and governance strategies aligned to trust objectives.
*Lead organisational development, succession planning and culture initiatives.
*Oversee recruitment, retention, talent management and staff wellbeing programmes.
*Lead on complex employee relations cases and maintain effective union relationships.
*Ensure HR policies, procedures and safeguarding practices remain legally compliant and reflect best practice.
*Manage HR systems, workforce data and reporting.
*Oversee governance across the trust, ensuring effective support to Trustees and committees.
*Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and governance requirements.
Essential:
*Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
*CIPD Level 5 qualification (or Associate CIPD membership) as a minimum.
*Significant senior HR and/or governance leadership experience.
*Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations and HR best practice.
*Experience leading organisational change and workforce strategy.
*Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
*Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
*Ability to interpret complex legislation, policy and governance requirements.
*Strategic thinker with strong operational delivery skills.
Desirable:
*Education, public sector or regulated sector experience.
*Knowledge of Multi-Academy Trust governance.
*Experience supporting Boards, Trustees or governance committees.
*Additional qualifications in governance, leadership or project management.
