Are you an experienced security professional with a passion for delivering excellent customer service? We’re looking for a Security Team Member to join the University of Derby, helping to create a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors across our Buxton Campus.

The RoleWorking as part of the University’s Security Team, you’ll provide a visible security presence while ensuring the safety of people, buildings and assets across campus.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Carrying out regular patrols of University buildings and grounds.

*Responding to security incidents, emergencies and anti-social behaviour.

*Investigating incidents and preparing clear written reports.

*Operating CCTV, access control and alarm systems.

*Locking and unlocking buildings as a designated key holder.

*Liaising with the Police and emergency services when required.

*Maintaining security records, databases and incident logs.

*Supporting parking enforcement and vehicle access control.

*Delivering outstanding customer service to students, staff and visitors.

*Providing first aid following training.

*Supporting security operations across other University sites when required.

Hours: 37 hours per week, working a rotating Monday to Friday shift pattern covering Early, Day and Late shifts between 6:00am and 10:00pm.
What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who is professional, approachable and confident dealing with a wide range of situations.
Essential*Full, clean UK driving licence.

*Previous experience within a security or customer-facing role.

*Strong customer service and communication skills.

*Experience investigating incidents and writing reports.

*Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally.

*Willingness to travel between University sites.

*Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable*SIA Door Supervisor Licence.

*SIA Public Space CCTV Licence.

*First Aid qualification.
