This exciting opportunity is ideal for an experienced community engagement professional who is passionate about reducing smoking-related harm and improving health outcomes in diverse communities across Manchester.The role will focus particularly on engaging Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities and supporting individuals who use Shisha to access specialist tobacco addiction services.
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week)Dates: ASAP 2 months (Temporary Contract, will be reviewed after 2 months and potentially extended)Pay Rate: Negotiable depending on experience
Key responsibilities:Promoting the service throughout local communities, businesses and partner organisations.Building relationships with employers, community groups and key stakeholders.Recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers and ambassadors.Delivering community engagement activities, awareness campaigns and health promotion events.Providing one-to-one, group, drop-in and telephone support to service users.Raising awareness of the risks associated with smoking and Shisha use.Supporting referrals and increasing access to tobacco addiction services.Working collaboratively with GPs, health professionals and community partners.
We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:Previous experience within Smoking Cessation or Tobacco Addiction Services.Knowledge of addiction and behaviour change principles.Knowledge of smoking cessation treatments and interventions.Experience of organising and delivering community-based events.Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to build rapport with people from a wide range of backgrounds.Competent IT skills and experience recording and monitoring data.Knowledge of local services and communities within Manchester.Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
NCSCT Level 3 qualification and PTLLS or equivalent training are desirable.**Please note we do not offer sponsorships**
