Full job descriptionHousing Disrepair Solicitor
Manchester | Amazing work-life balance with flexi-time and Hybrid working
This one is for solicitors who actually want to practise housing disrepair, not drown in red tape or endless
internal meetings about having meetings.
The firm
An established claimant practice. Longstanding reputation, strong reviews, steady growth. The work is
meaningful, the clients genuinely need help and outcomes actually change living conditions. Busy, yes.
Chaotic, no.
The role
You’ll run a full housing disrepair caseload from instruction through to resolution. High volume, properly
resourced, and managed with structure rather than fire drills. If you demonstrate good judgement and
consistency.
Day to day
• Running your own housing disrepair caseload end to end
• Drafting pleadings, witness statements and court bundles
• Negotiating settlements without chest beating or drama
• Advising clients clearly, honestly and without legal waffle
• Liaising with counsel, experts and opponents
• Spotting inefficiencies and helping improve processes
• Keeping on top of legal developments without needing reminders
Skills and experience
Qualified Solicitor
• Solid litigation background
• Clear, hands-on HDR experience
• Strong organisation and communication skills
• Comfortable handling volume without burning out
• Experience using case management systems
• Confident decision maker who doesn’t need constant sign-off
If you’re after progression rather than another sideways move, this role gives you real responsibility now
and a credible route into leadership later. No hype, just opportunity if you back yourself.
