Are you an experienced Cost Accountant with a background in manufacturing? Do you enjoy analysing data, improving processes and influencing business decisions? If so, this is an excellent opportunity to join a long-established, successful manufacturing business on the Fylde Coast.
This is a key position within the finance team where you’ll play an integral role in driving profitability, improving cost efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making across the business. Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact while developing your career within a stable and growing organisation.
The Role
As Cost Accountant, you’ll take ownership of product and inventory costing while providing valuable financial insight to support business performance. Your responsibilities will include:
*Establishing and maintaining standard costs for products and services
*Updating standard costs to reflect changes in material, labour and overhead costs
*Analysing material and labour usage to identify trends and efficiencies
*Recommending cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
*Reviewing labour rates, depreciation and overhead allocations
*Taking ownership of inventory costing and margin reporting
*Producing cost centre budgets and forecasts
*Preparing accurate product costing and profitability analysis
*Investigating and reporting on cost variances
*Supporting continuous improvement across finance processes
*Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
*Assisting with month-end and quarter-end close activities
*Preparing accurate month-end and quarter-end management reports
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and analytical finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
*A finance or accountancy qualification (Part Qualified or AAT)
*Previous experience in a similar Cost Accounting role
*Essential manufacturing and product costing experience
*Proven experience processing high volumes of financial data and invoices
*Strong Excel skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
*The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
*A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
*Experience working collaboratively within a small finance team and liaising with multiple departments
