Full job descriptionFinance Director | Manchester (hybrid - 90% remote working) | Circa £120,000 - £140,000 + benefits
The Opportunity
This is a really interesting, relatively unique and highly rewarding role for an ambitious, highly commercially astute FD. You’ll be joining an entrepreneurial firm of accountants in a new division (which you will lead). Your role is partnering with owner led businesses looking to get sale ready, stay sale ready and ultimately position themselves for investment or exit.
You’ll be working with a portfolio of businesses, aspirational growing SMEs led by talented leadership teams. You’ll be providing the sounding board they need around the factors which ultimately impact their multiple at point of sale.
You’ll be supporting with due diligence, reviewing the robustness of their controls and the relevance of their board pack. Providing challenge and support around the levers of income and profit, helping spot opportunity to drive growth, retain margin.
It’s more than dressing the shop window for them. It’s really becoming that trusted advisor to business owners / investors / board players. Someone who can be part of their growth to exit story and add financial / commercial guidance during the planning and strategy discussions.
Required:
*This is for someone driven, career focused and proactive.
*You’ll have a solid technical accounting (potentially having started your career in practice).
*You’ll probably have already taken an SME through an exit event – with clear evidence of getting them in great shape and sale-ready.
*You’ll potentially have experience of a PE setting (although getting a business through trade sale or perhaps MBO/MBI would also be very relevant).
*Its for someone sharp, intelligent and self-motivated. A commercially aware and modern FD who will enjoy being part of grown up conversations with a variety of business owners / leaders.
You need to be someone who is able to build rapport with a diverse audience of stakeholders. A proactive FD who will be able to get under the bonnet of several businesses in your stable and understand what the levers of success in each setting may be. It’s a cracking role – tons of variety, M&A exposure, constant added value activity. Loads of interesting and exciting discussions rather than the grind of month end!
You need to enjoy change, working at pace, partnering naturally ambitious entrepreneurs and business owners.
