The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.
From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

The Role
As our new Stakeholder Engagement & Policy Lead, you’ll work at the centre of WMGC’s strategic activity, helping to align business planning, stakeholder relationships, policy development, and organisational performance. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders, local authorities, universities, and regional partners to ensure WMGC’s activity supports regional priorities and delivers measurable impact. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking, relationship management, and policy insight in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll Be Involved In:
*Supporting the delivery and review of WMGC’s Corporate Plan.
*Building strong relationships with local authority, university, and regional stakeholders.
*Driving collaboration across partners to support economic growth priorities.
*Translating policy and regional priorities into actionable business plans.
*Leading reporting and governance activity for senior stakeholders and Board members.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Coordinating and monitoring delivery of WMGC’s Corporate Plan.
*Managing stakeholder engagement across public sector and academic partners.
*Preparing high-quality reports, briefings, presentations, and Board papers.
*Supporting policy development and translating insights into strategic actions.
*Leading Board governance processes, including meetings and reporting.
*Managing projects, timelines, resources, and key organisational priorities.
*Working closely with senior leaders to support strategic decision-making.
*Representing WMGC professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential:
• Experience working with senior stakeholders in a strategic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
• Strong report writing, presentation, and briefing preparation experience.
• Experience developing or implementing policy, strategy, or business plans.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of economic development or regional growth agendas.
• Understanding of public sector policy and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience producing Board-level or executive briefing materials.
• Background in communications, corporate affairs, or partnership management.
• Experience working with local authorities, universities, or regional partners.
