Full job descriptionFinance Graduate / Finance Apprentice
Location: Near Burnopfield, County Durham
Hours: Full Time, Office Based
Driving Licence: Essential due to location
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Finance Graduate to join their close-knit finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within finance and accounting, gaining hands-on experience across the full accounting function.
Unlike many graduate roles that focus on a single area, this position will provide broad exposure to all aspects of finance. You will initially support invoice processing and transactional finance activities, before taking on increasing levels of responsibility as your knowledge, confidence, and experience develop. The business is also embarking on an exciting systems implementation project, providing a unique opportunity to gain exposure to wider business operations and participate in a significant organisational change initiative.
The company is passionate about developing talent and may consider recruiting under an apprenticeship scheme. Study support towards AAT qualifications and further professional development will be available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Initially, your duties will focus on transactional finance activities, including:
*Processing purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
*Supporting sales ledger and purchase ledger activities
*Assisting with supplier statement reconciliations
*Managing invoice queries and resolving discrepancies
*Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
*Supporting month-end finance processes
As your experience develops, you will gain exposure to:
*Bank reconciliations
*Accruals and prepayments
*Management accounting support
*Budgeting and forecasting activities
*Financial reporting and analysis
*Process improvement initiatives
*Involvement in wider finance projects
You will also have the opportunity to:
*Support and contribute to a new systems implementation project
*Work closely with colleagues across multiple departments
*Gain valuable commercial and operational business exposure
About You
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, willing to take ownership, and excited about developing a career within finance.
Essential Requirements
*Degree educated, ideally within Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related discipline
*Strong numerical and analytical skills
*Excellent attention to detail
*Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office
*Positive, proactive attitude
*Strong communication skills
Desirable
*Previous finance, accounts or office administration experience
*Working towards or interested in studying AAT
*Understanding of basic accounting principles
This role sits within a small and supportive team where everyone contributes to the success of the business. We are looking for someone who is prepared to roll their sleeves up and help wherever required. A flexible, team-focused approach is essential.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated graduate seeking practical experience, professional development, and exposure to both finance and wider business operations within a growing organisation.
