A busy Secondary School based in Central Birmingham is looking for a School Receptionist. The cover is Monday to Friday,
8am - 4pm to start in September 2026
Your new role
The school is seeking a professional and welcoming Receptionist to join their busy secondary school in Birmingham. As the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for our school community.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with strong communication and administrative skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced educational setting.
The role will entail
*Manage the school’s reception area and welcome visitors in a professional manner.
*Answer and direct telephone calls and email enquiries.
*Maintain visitor records in line with safeguarding procedures.
*Support attendance, admissions and general administrative processes.
*Update and maintain pupil records and school databases.
*Handle incoming and outgoing post.
*Assist staff with administrative tasks and school communications.
*Monitor signing-in procedures and visitor safeguarding requirements.
*Support the smooth day-to-day running of the school office
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have previous reception with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also have strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel is essential.
You will also have recent satisfactory references for carrying out a similar placement within the last 2 years. You will also need to have an up to date DBS check, the school can’t accept any applicants without this.
