Full job descriptionFinancial AccountantAndover | £55,000 | Hybrid – 3 days on-site, 2 days from home
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our client’s growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced, forward-thinking organisation.
You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting business decision-making and driving continuous improvement across finance processes. Working closely with the Financial Controller, wider Finance team and stakeholders across the business, you’ll provide valuable financial insight while ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.
What you’ll be doing*Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
*Managing the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
*Maintaining the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are accurately recorded.
*Analysing financial performance, investigating variances and providing clear commentary against budgets and forecasts.
*Supporting the budgeting, forecasting and business planning processes.
*Preparing quarterly VAT returns and ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
*Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and external audit activity.
*Monitoring aged debtors and creditors, investigating outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies.
*Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve finance systems, reporting and processes.
*Supporting financial analysis, business cases and wider strategic projects.
*Providing financial guidance and support to colleagues across the business, including operational teams such as Claims.
*Supporting finance system upgrades, testing and implementation.
