Job overviewA opportunity has arisen for a full time (1 WTE), Band 5 Structured Clinical Management Practitioner, within adult community mental health services in North Hertfordshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well established team within community mental health. Psychology is highly valued by the team and is seen as a core component of service provision.
We are looking for a new staff member who shares our passion and commitment to work with individuals with Personality disorder to improve their wellbeing and achieve great outcomes together.
Structured Clinical Management is an evidence-based approach for working with people diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorders. Training will be provided, and this offers an exciting opportunity to join an established group of practitioners to offer a quadrant wide therapy service within the community mental health team, as well as joining the wider network of therapists across the trust. The service works to meet the needs of service users who are experiencing significant difficulties with emotional instability and impulsive behaviours, and working within the local multi-disciplinary community teams. We pride ourselves on the quality of the service that we offer and place importance on supporting all our therapists to provide great care, with an emphasis placed on maintaining and developing skills and regular supervision.
Main duties of the jobThis post would suit someone with a core mental health qualification and registration (including those recently qualified in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or other appropriately registered therapists - see person spec for details) or a psychology graduate (eligible for BPS registration) with experience in community mental health settings. The successful applicants will also have an interest in working collaboratively with service users to develop their skills to improve their ability to tolerate and manage strong emotion. It would suit someone who loves working as part of a team and alongside multidisciplinary colleagues.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of working with this service user group in any care setting, or someone who has transferable skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe role will be interesting and varied, and the worker will have an opportunity to contribute to our group therapies programme for this client group. There are also excellent opportunities to progress and undertake further training. The post will be based in our two community teams, but the ability to work flexibly as the needs of the service demands will be essential. The post holder would expect some travel within their working week.

Person specificationKNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEEssential criteriaQualification and continuing registration in one of the core mental health professions (e.g. psychiatric nursing, social work, occupational therapy) or graduate worker with substantial other relevant experience and with demonstrable competence to work in the mental health field. *Continuing registration with body overseeing practice of core mental health profession, e.g. NMC or HCPC; for Graduate Workers registration with BPS
*Completion of SCM Training (Short course) or willingness and aptitude to train.
AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGEEssential criteria*Experience of assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, e.g.outpatient, community, adult mental health and in patient settings
