*Role: Digital Developer (Frontend)
*Project: Public sector / government digital services
*Location: Exeter - typically 1-2 days per week on site
*Duration: Initial 6-month contract
*Rate: Around £600/day (Umbrella)
*IR35: In scope
*Security:SC cleared or SC eligible (for a government agency)
What you’ll be working on
*Developing responsive, accessible UIs using Next.js, React, TypeScript
*Collaborating with design and product teams to create intuitive, user-centred experiences
*Building frontends that integrate with internal APIs and search indexes
*Taking part in code reviews, testing, debugging and continuous improvements
*Maintaining and enhancing existing applications, diagnosing and resolving issues
*Contributing to technical documentation and helping shape project requirements
*Implementing and working with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
Tech stack & skills
*Strong experience as a Frontend Developer
*Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript plus React and Next.js
*Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling
*Familiarity with Elasticsearch and SQL-like databases
*Good understanding of Git and collaborative workflows
*Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and deployment strategies
*Comfortable working in an Agile, cross-functional team
Nice to have
*Experience with PyGeoAPI or GIS-related work
*Experience with Jira and Confluence
This is a good fit if you like owning the full lifecycle of frontend features, care about UX/UI, and want to contribute to highly visible services in the public sector.
