Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe’re delighted to be supporting a growing accountancy practice in the search for an ambitious Portfolio Assistant to join their expanding team.
Working alongside a team of accountants and business advisors, you’ll support a diverse portfolio of clients across the creative industries.
This is a great opportunity for somebody looking to take the next step in their practice career. You’ll have plenty of client contact and gradually take on greater responsibility across VAT, accounts preparation and portfolio management, whilst also supporting more junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
*Manage VAT returns across a portfolio of clients, including gathering information, reviewing work and ensuring filing deadlines are met.
*Liaise directly with clients, proactively chasing information and responding to day-to-day queries.
*Prepare draft accounts for manager review.
*Support and review work completed by junior members of the team and bookkeepers.
*Help manage workflow across the portfolio, keeping on top of upcoming deadlines and maintaining CCH workflow.
*Delegate work where appropriate and help ensure workloads are managed effectively.
*Provide day-to-day guidance and training to more junior members of the team.
*Support managers with client work, workflow and billing targets.
*Assist with training across accounting software and systems.
*Build strong relationships with clients and become a reliable point of contact.
*Support the wider team with ad hoc client queries and accounting work.
About You:
*Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
*Strong practical knowledge of VAT and experience preparing VAT returns.
*Exposure to accounts preparation.
*Confident communicating directly with clients and comfortable proactively chasing information.
*Personable, outgoing and able to build relationships with a varied client base.
*Comfortable supporting and working alongside more junior members of a team.
*Part-qualified or actively studying towards ACCA would be advantageous..
