An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cost Controller to join a long-established manufacturing business during a period of significant growth and transformation.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of manufacturing costing processes, play a key role in a major ERP implementation project, and influence the future development of the finance function. There is also a clear succession path into a more senior finance leadership position over time.
This position is ideal for an ambitious finance professional with strong manufacturing costing experience who enjoys working closely with operations and driving improvements across systems, processes and reporting.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
*Costing & Manufacturing Finance
*Analyse and maintain product, inventory and manufacturing cost information.
*Review stock valuation methodologies and inventory reporting.
*Investigate manufacturing variances, scrap rates and operational performance.
*Analyse material, labour and subcontractor costs.
*Support profitability analysis across products and customers.
*Provide financial insight to support pricing and commercial decision-making.
*ERP & Systems Development
*Play a key role in a major ERP implementation project.
*Develop and enhance costing processes within a new ERP environment.
*Support the transition from existing systems and processes.
*Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation and financial controls.
*Business Partnering & Finance Support
*Support management reporting and management accounts production.
*Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
*Partner with operational, commercial and senior management teams.
*Provide financial guidance on profitability, performance improvement and operational efficiency.
*Continuous Improvement
*Investigate inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
*Improve reporting accuracy and financial visibility.
*Support wider finance transformation initiatives.
The Person
*Qualified accountant, finalist, or qualified by experience with strong manufacturing costing expertise.
*Previous experience within a manufacturing finance environment.
*Strong cost accounting and inventory analysis experience.
*Good ERP/MRP systems knowledge and strong Excel skills.
*Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Comfortable working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders.
