The Role
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring deliveries are planned efficiently and completed successfully. Working with a network of subcontracted carriers, you will balance customer expectations, operational efficiency, and cost control while maintaining high service levels.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and optimise daily delivery schedules and routes.
*Allocate work across a network of subcontracted transport providers.
*Monitor deliveries and resolve issues as they arise.
*React quickly to delays, changes, and shifting priorities.
*Work closely with internal teams to maintain excellent customer service.
*Balance operational efficiency, service requirements, and transport costs.
*Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and resolve any related queries.
*Utilise planning systems and operational data to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

We’re seeking a confident and proactive Transport Planner who can think on their feet and make effective decisions in a busy operational environment.
Skills & Experience
*Previous experience within transport planning, logistics planning, or a similar role.
*Experience working with subcontracted carriers or third-party logistics providers.
*Strong route planning and organisational skills.
*Excellent problem-solving abilities with a calm approach under pressure.
*Experience using transport planning or route optimisation software.
*Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost and service requirements.
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
*A proactive mindset with a passion for identifying improvements and efficiencies.
