Are you an experienced finance professional with a strong background across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll?
We’re recruiting for an Finance & Payroll Assistant to join a busy finance team in North Dorset on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a varied, hands-on role with responsibility across transactional finance and payroll. We’re looking for someone who can confidently manage their own workload, has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered on time.
The role
You’ll be responsible for a broad range of finance activities, including:
*Managing purchase ledger activity, ensuring POs and invoices are processed accurately and on time
*Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger
*Processing supplier payment runs and responding to supplier queries
*Producing sales invoices and credit notes
*Allocating and receipting customer payments
*Maintaining an accurate sales ledger
*Carrying out bank reconciliations
*Managing credit control and supporting the timely collection of outstanding balances
*Processing both weekly and monthly payroll
*Maintaining accurate payroll records and providing payroll-related information
*Ensuring payroll processes meet relevant statutory requirements
*Supporting VAT, PAYE/NI and pension contribution submissions
*Assisting with year-end activities and audit requirements
*Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiencies
About you
We’re looking for someone with at least three years’ experience within finance, ideally with hands-on experience across AP, AR and payroll.
You’ll be highly numerate with strong Excel and general IT skills, excellent attention to detail and a ’right first time’ approach.
You’ll also be comfortable using your own initiative, resolving discrepancies and communicating confidently with suppliers, customers and colleagues across the business.
An AAT qualification or part-qualification would be advantageous, although relevant hands-on experience is equally important.
