*Location: Doncaster (Hybrid working)
*Job Type: Interim, Full-time
*Salary: Up to £450 per day (via umbrella company)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Leader to provide temporary cover within a Development Management team. This role is focused on operational leadership, ensuring the effective delivery of planning services and maintaining service standards during a period of temporary absence. The successful candidate will support the management of planning applications, oversee workload allocation, review and sign off work, and respond to changes in legislation, policy, and process.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Lead the operational delivery of planning services.
*Allocate and monitor workloads across the team.
*Review, manage, and sign off planning applications and reports.
*Oversee complex and strategic planning casework.
*Support service delivery and performance objectives.
*Respond to process, policy, and legislative changes affecting planning functions.
*Provide technical guidance and support to planning officers.
*Supervise the handling of appeals and ensure compliance with planning legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Significant experience within Development Management or a similar planning environment.
*Proven experience managing and determining major residential and commercial planning applications.
*Strong technical planning knowledge with the ability to review and sign off work to a high standard.
*Experience providing operational oversight and leadership within a planning team.
*Excellent organisational, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
*Planning qualification to degree level (or equivalent) and full membership of the RTPI (or clear evidence of working towards full membership).
*Extensive experience in dealing with a full range of planning applications and in the application of planning legislation and other relevant legislation, policies and guidance including complex and contentious developments.
Working Arrangements:
*Hybrid working arrangement available.
*Some office attendance required for meetings and collaboration.
*Site visits will form part of the role.
*Flexible arrangements can be considered for candidates based outside the immediate area, subject to business requirements.
Contract Details:
*Fixed-term cover position.
*Expected duration until approximately March of the following year, subject to service requirements and return of the substantive post-holder.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in local authority work, a range of complex majors with a Development Management focus, and some degree of managerial experience.
