Job overviewThis is a 3 month secondment opportunity for an Interim Operational Management of a busy Mental Health Liaison (MHLT) service based at Watford General.
MHLT is a multi disciplinary team that supports person in the acute hospital who experience mental health issues. It provides support to service users across the wards at Watford General and to service users who present to A & E.

Main duties of the job*Work closely with the service manager, operational manager at Lister Hospital and Clinical Leads to support the team through a period of transformation and change to working practices.
*Build and maintain relations with senior staff from West Herts Hospital Trust.
*Provide supportive leadership to the team leaders within the team
*Ensure team meets national and local KPIs
*Work with wider team to improve clinical practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesTo provide overall leadership for the designated team/s to ensure their services are integrated with and responsive to the General Hospital and West Herts Integrated Diabetic Team, as well as other local service needs
To ensure (in conjunction with appropriate lead professionals) that practice within the teams meet relevant standards is appropriate, timely, safe and follows agreed professional practice
To be responsible for the overall management of the designated MHLT teams in and in conjunction with the team leaders of all facilities, services and processes provided therein including accommodation and site management.
To develop and monitor systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensure compliance with best practice requirements of the Trust and county council in line with both agencies-strategic policies and plans of the joint commissioning partnership Board
In partnership to identify trends, strengths and weaknesses that may influence the development of designated MHLT services and to develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout the designated team/s
To partake in the on call rota for Mental Health management.
Person specificationQUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION TRAININGEssential criteria*First or higher degree
*Professional qualification in relevant area of health and social care
Desirable criteria*Post graduate qualification or formal management training
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCEEssential criteria*Strong management experience in relevant area of health or social care
*Demonstrate success at managing change and development
*Proven ability to work flexibility and to a tight deadline
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITYEssential criteria*Excellent communication skill
*Experience of multidisciplinary and multiagency working
*Ability to analyse information for the use of service planning
