Job overviewThis is an exciting opportunity to Join the Travel and Transport Team at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) as the Operational Travel and Transport Manager. This is an important role to manage the operational running of Travel and Transport functions as well as supporting the wider Sustainability team on new projects and strategic work to improve travel and transport across the trust.
This is a full time post primarily based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with the requirement for regular visits to the other OUH sites in Oxford and Banbury.
Main duties of the jobEF15QP
*Lead the operational delivery and ongoing development of Travel & Transport services across all OUH sites, ensuring effective day-to-day management and project implementation.
*Develop and deliver initiatives aligned to the Trust’s Travel & Transport strategy, supporting sustainability and greener travel outcomes.
*Oversee staff travel operations, including permit processes, eligibility criteria, and contractual arrangements for transport services.
*Act as the key point of contact for travel and transport queries and complaints, maintaining a high standard of customer service and representing the Trust professionally.
*Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support service improvement, consultations, and project delivery.
*Manage external contractors, ensuring effective delivery of services, value for money, and appropriate use of resources.
*Line manage the Travel & Transport administrative team, including workload allocation, performance management, appraisals, and absence management.
*Work in partnership with the Senior Green Travel & Transport Manager to deliver strategic projects beyond operational activities.

Desirable criteria*Project Management qualification
ExperienceEssential criteria*Experience of working in a technical role in an estates environment.
*Experience of working within the field of travel and transport, with a working knowledge of transport, carparking and related systems and services
*Experience with data retrieval, analysis and presentation
*Experience demonstrating advance ICT skills, including spreadsheets, databases and MS Office applications.
Desirable criteria*Knowledge of NHS organisations, data standards and information systems.
Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesEssential criteria*Good planning and organisational skills to meet tight deadlines with limited supervision.
*Ability to provide and receive highly complex information and to communicate complex ideas at varying levels of the organisation.
*Able to recognise and implement opportunities for improvement with a minimum of supervision.
*Strong negotiation skills when working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable criteria*Experience of successful change management, in particular around emotive or sensitive subjects.
CommunicationEssential criteria*Verbally confident and articulate with a friendly and professional demeanour. Good written and oral communication skills with ability to deal with emotive subjects
*Confidently able to negotiate with others in the workplace and sensitive and professional when dealing with public, patients and stakeholders.
