Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
We are working with a number of inclusive and supportive secondary schools across Southwark seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors to provide targeted support to students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral guidance.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Behaviour Mentors, Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Support Workers, Sports Coaches and graduates looking to gain valuable experience within education.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
*Provide one-to-one and small group support to students requiring behavioural, emotional or pastoral support
*Build positive and trusting relationships to encourage engagement and achievement
*Support students in developing resilience, confidence and positive behaviour strategies
*Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to implement effective behaviour interventions
*Help remove barriers to learning and improve attendance, engagement and classroom participation
*Support students throughout the school day, including lessons, breaktimes and transition periods
*Promote a safe, positive and inclusive school environment
*Monitor and report on student progress against behaviour and wellbeing targets
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who:
*Have experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, care or support settings
*Are confident supporting students who may display challenging behaviour
*Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Are patient, resilient and calm under pressure
*Can effectively manage challenging situations using a positive and proactive approach
*Are passionate about improving outcomes for young people
*Work effectively as both part of a team and independently
Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD or other additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
