Full job descriptionSenior Architect | Colchester | £50,000/£60,000Penguin is proud to be working with a fast-growing multidisciplinary planning, design and construction consultancy on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to join their expanding Design team in Colchester.
The consultancy works closely with residential and mixed-use developers across the UK, supporting projects from site acquisition and feasibility through planning and technical delivery. They have a strong focus on commercially viable, policy-led design and are continuing to grow their in-house architectural capability.
The RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Architect to take ownership of projects and play a key role in the delivery of residential and mixed-use schemes.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
*Lead projects through RIBA Stages 0-3, from feasibility and concept design through to planning submission.
*Develop site layouts, housing mix strategies and masterplans.
*Work closely with planning teams to ensure designs are policy-compliant and commercially viable.
*Liaise with developers, land agents, consultants and local authorities.
*Lead and mentor junior members of the design team.
*Produce and coordinate high-quality planning-stage drawings.
*Balance creativity, planning policy, commercial requirements and buildability.
*Take ownership of projects and contribute to the continued growth of the wider design team.
About YouThe ideal candidate will have:
*ARB registration / Part III qualification with significant post-qualification experience.
*Strong experience working on residential and/or mixed-use developments.
*Proven experience taking projects through RIBA Stages 0-3.
*Experience working with housing developers, housebuilders or land agents.
*A strong understanding of UK planning policy and the residential development process.
*Excellent design and technical knowledge.
*Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*The ability to lead projects and mentor more junior designers.
*A commercially aware and proactive approach to design.
