Job Description:
Full job descriptionAre you a qualified finance professional looking for a role where you can combine financial control, commercial insight and leadership within a successful, rapidly growing organisation?
We are partnering with a well-established, multi-site business that is continuing to expand and is looking to appoint a Divisional Financial Controller to support its next phase of growth.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the finance function across a division of the business, leading and developing the accounting team while working closely with senior operational stakeholders.
This is much more than a traditional reporting role. You will be expected to understand what is driving performance, challenge the business constructively and provide the financial insight needed to improve profitability and support commercial decision-making.
The Role
You will take responsibility for:
Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle and producing monthly management accounts and performance reporting.
Providing insightful variance analysis, identifying emerging risks, opportunities and performance trends.
Working closely with senior operational leaders to challenge performance and improve profitability.
Managing cash-flow forecasting, balance sheet control and working capital across your division.
Developing financial models and business cases to support investment, growth and transformation projects.
Leading, mentoring and developing the divisional accounting team, ensuring KPIs and reporting deadlines are achieved.
Improving financial awareness across operational teams and acting as the bridge between finance and the wider business.
Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, controls and reporting.
Maintaining a strong financial-control environment and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
Supporting year-end statutory reporting and the external audit process.
About You
We are looking for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo.
You will ideally be:
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with 3-5+ years’ post-qualified experience.
An experienced Financial Controller, Divisional Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar.
Strong across both financial control and commercial finance/business partnering.
Experienced in management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working-capital management.
Comfortable partnering and constructively challenging senior non-finance stakeholders.
An experienced people manager who enjoys developing and mentoring a team.
Highly proficient in Excel and finance systems.
Commercially astute, analytical and confident translating financial information into meaningful business insight.
A self-starter who can manage competing priorities and drive improvements independently.
Ideally experienced within a multi-site, operational, retail, distribution or similarly fast-paced environment.
Why Apply?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and rapidly expanding organisation where finance plays an important role in driving commercial performance.
You’ll have significant exposure to senior leadership, responsibility for your own division and the opportunity to influence how the business operates rather than simply report on historical performance.
If you’re a qualified finance professional looking for a broad Financial Controller role combining leadership, commercial partnering and financial control, we’d be keen to hear from you.
Apply now or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
