The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Manager to join a well-established and growing business in Nottingham. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing all aspects of the logistics hub, ensuring the efficient movement of goods, effective route planning, vehicle utilisation, and high levels of customer service.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day logistics operations, driving performance, and ensuring operational excellence across the distribution function.
Key Responsibilities
*Oversee the daily operation of the Nottingham logistics hub.
*Manage and lead logistics, transport, and warehouse teams.
*Utilise and manage the Track-POD system to optimise delivery performance and reporting.
*Coordinate routing, scheduling, and dispatch activities.
*Monitor fleet performance, driver productivity, and delivery KPIs.
*Ensure compliance with transport regulations, health & safety, and company policies.
*Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
*Manage relationships with drivers, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
*Investigate and resolve operational issues and customer service concerns.
*Produce management reports and analyse logistics performance data.
*Support workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management.
Skills & Experience Required
*Proven experience in a Logistics Manager, Transport Manager, or Distribution Manager role.
*Strong knowledge of transport and logistics operations.
*Experience managing teams within a fast-paced logistics environment.
*Excellent organisational and planning skills.
*Strong leadership and communication abilities.
*Ability to analyse operational data and identify improvements.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
*Commercially aware with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
