Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe’re working with a growing, recently private equity-backed business in Leyland who are looking to appoint an Assistant Finance Manager as part of their next phase of growth.
The business has grown from around £3m to £10m turnover in just 3 years and has now secured PE investment to support its continued expansion.
This is also a genuine succession-planning hire. You’ll work closely with an experienced Finance Manager who plans to retire within the next 2 years, with the intention being for the successful person to develop into the Finance Manager position. The original job specification similarly identifies the role as a precursor to promotion into Finance Manager.
It’s a broad, hands-on role giving you exposure across the full finance function.
Responsibilites will include:
*Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
*Balance sheet reconciliations
*Oversight and support across AP, AR and payroll
*Cash flow management and creditor payments
*Budgeting and forecasting
*VAT returns
*Financial analysis to support business decisions
*Improving financial controls and processes
*Supporting new systems and ways of working
*Exposure to wider areas of the business, including IT and HR
Package:
*£35,000 - £40,000
*Hybrid working
*25 days holiday + bank holidays
*Clear progression into Finance Manager

They are looking for someone with good all-round finance experience who is ready to step up and take on more responsibility. You’ll ideally be have strong Excel skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
It could be a particularly good opportunity for an Assistant Accountant, Management Accountant or Assistant Finance Manager who feels they’ve reached a ceiling and wants a role where there is a clear route to running the finance function.
You’d be joining at a pretty exciting point too: significant growth already delivered, fresh PE investment behind the business and a genuine opportunity to grow your responsibilities alongside it.
