As part of our ambitious Fit for the Future portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Specialist Project Manager to lead the delivery of a critical collective consultation workstream, ensuring a structured, legally informed and effective approach to organisational change.
The Opportunity Specialist Project Manager
We are looking for a highly experienced project professional to provide strong delivery leadership for the collective consultation element of our Fit for the Future programme.
This role is focused specifically on planning, coordinating and delivering collective consultation activity, ensuring all milestones, governance arrangements, resources, risks and dependencies are effectively managed. You will work closely with senior leaders, HR specialists, Trade Unions and professional advisers to ensure a robust and well-managed consultation process.
Reporting to the Strategic Delivery Manager, with oversight from the Director of People and Culture, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of a high-profile organisational change programme.
Key Responsibilities Specialist Project Manager


Lead the planning and delivery of the collective consultation workstream within the wider Fit for the Future portfolio.
Develop and manage detailed delivery plans, timelines, milestones and consultation schedules.
Coordinate all logistical arrangements, resources and supporting activities required for consultation delivery.
Maintain effective governance arrangements, including action logs, decision logs, risk registers and issue tracking.
Produce high-quality reports, briefings and governance papers for senior stakeholders and programme boards.
Work closely with the Head of HR Business Partners & Employee Relations to ensure consultation activities align with employment legislation and organisational requirements.
Build productive relationships with senior leaders, Trade Unions, advisers and project teams to support successful delivery.
Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, escalating concerns appropriately and supporting timely resolution.
Ensure all consultation activity is delivered with pace, structure, consistency and attention to detail.
Provide additional project support and leadership as required to ensure successful programme outcomes

Deliver a well-planned, coordinated and effectively governed collective consultation process.
Ensure consultation activities are delivered in line with agreed timescales and organisational objectives.
Provide clear visibility of risks, issues, dependencies and progress through robust reporting mechanisms.
Support positive engagement with Trade Unions, senior stakeholders and employee representatives.
Maintain compliance with relevant employment legislation and collective consultation requirements.
Contribute to the successful delivery of the wider Fit for the Future transformation programme.


About You Specialist Project Manager
You will be an experienced project management professional with a strong track record of delivering complex organisational change, transformation or consultation programmes within large and politically sensitive environments.
You will be highly organised, resilient and able to bring structure to complex workstreams while maintaining delivery momentum. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate confidently at senior levels are essential.
You will also possess a sound understanding of collective consultation processes, employment relations considerations and employment law requirements.
Essential Requirements


Significant experience managing complex organisational change, transformation or consultation projects.
Demonstrable experience leading collective consultation or workforce change initiatives.
Strong project management expertise, including planning, governance, risk management and reporting.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
Experience working with Trade Unions and employee representatives.
Sound knowledge of employment law, employee relations and collective consultation requirements.
Ability to prepare concise, high-quality reports, briefings and governance materials.
Experience operating within large, complex and politically sensitive organisations.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.


Qualifications


PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, APM, Agile Project Management qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
Relevant degree or professional qualification desirable.
