Full job descriptionHFG are working with an established international general insurance group as they look to appoint a Financial Controller to lead their UK financial accounting and reporting function.
The business has a long-standing presence in the UK insurance market and is part of a major international insurance group. The UK operation specialises across areas including commercial property, casualty, marine and credit insurance, with a growing presence in the London Market.
This is a senior finance role reporting directly to the CFO, with responsibility for delivering accurate and timely statutory, management and group reporting. The successful candidate will take ownership of the financial control and reporting agenda, while working closely with senior stakeholders across finance, actuarial and the wider business.
You will lead the financial accounting and reporting function, overseeing:
*Monthly management accounts, financial analysis and reporting to senior finance and executive committees
*Insurance and reinsurance accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations
*Statutory reporting under FRS 102 and FRS 103
*Quarterly IFRS 17 reporting and group submissions
*Solvency UK financial regulatory returns and international regulatory reporting
*Financial controls, governance and risk management
*Working closely with actuarial teams on IBNR reserves and Solvency UK Technical Provisions
*Leading, mentoring and developing a team of finance professionals
*Supporting finance transformation, systems and process improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with 10+ years’ post-qualified experience and a strong technical financial reporting background.
Importantly, non-life/general insurance experience is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of insurance accounting and ideally experience within the London Market, together with exposure to IFRS 17 (desirable), FRS 102/103 and Solvency UK reporting.
You will also need strong financial control experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and a proven ability to lead and develop a finance team.
