Full job descriptionEthos Talent is partnering with an established manufacturing business in Milton Keynes to recruit an Assistant Accountant for an initial 9-month term, with a view to the position becoming permanent. This role offers hybrid and flexible working.
This is a great opportunity for someone who already has a solid grounding in transactional finance and is now looking to broaden their experience across month-end, management accounting and financial reporting.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you’ll gain exposure across a varied finance function while playing an active role in improving processes, controls and reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Supporting the month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
*Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
*Assisting with management reporting, analysis and commentary
*Supporting intercompany reconciliations and investigating differences
*Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
*Processing supplier invoices, credit notes and supporting payment runs
*Maintaining accurate accounting records within the ERP system
*Supporting internal and external audit requirements
*Contributing to finance process improvements and stronger financial controls
*Working with colleagues across the business to resolve queries and improve financial processes
This opportunity would suit someone who has previous experience within a finance, accounts or Assistant Accountant position and is ready to take the next step in their career.
You’ll ideally have:
*Experience supporting month-end processes, journals and reconciliations
*A good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
*Exposure to purchase ledger, bank reconciliations and balance sheet controls
*Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables
*A proactive approach with strong attention to detail
*Ideally, be studying towards or intending to study ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent qualification – QBE will also be considered
Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar environment would be advantageous, as would exposure to ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
