An established international freight forwarder is looking to recruit an experienced Import Coordinator to join its Aberdeen operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding professional with a strong background in international imports, customs clearance and multimodal transport to join a well-established operation handling complex international shipments.
The RoleWorking as part of the Imports team, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing international shipments across multiple transport modes, managing customs documentation and ensuring shipments move efficiently from collection through to final delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Coordinating international import shipments across air, ocean and road freight
*Booking shipments with overseas agents, carriers, shipping lines and road transport providers
*Managing client import requests including EXW collections, customs declarations and final delivery arrangements
*Preparing and processing customs declarations through ASM Sequoia
*Ensuring customs entries are completed accurately and in accordance with HMRC regulations
*Maintaining accurate shipment information across internal freight management systems
*Liaising with clients, overseas agents, carriers and transport providers throughout the shipment process
*Identifying customs requirements and regulations relating to international imports
*Resolving day-to-day operational issues with clients and suppliers, escalating where required
*Ensuring jobs are invoiced accurately and within agreed KPIs
*Maintaining high standards of compliance across customs, dangerous goods, transport security and company procedures
*Providing clients with a high level of customer service and operational support
The CandidateThe successful candidate will ideally have:
*Minimum 3 years’ experience within international imports and freight forwarding
*Strong understanding of end-to-end import operations
*Experience handling air, ocean and/or road freight shipments
*Good working knowledge of HMRC customs regulations and procedures
*Experience completing customs declarations using ASM Sequoia
*Knowledge of customs regimes and entry types including FCG, End Use, RGR, IPR, OPR, CFSP, ERTS and NCTS
*Previous experience using CHIEF and/or current UK customs systems
*Strong customer service and communication skills
*Excellent attention to detail when processing shipment and customs documentation
*Ability to prioritise workloads within a busy freight forwarding environment
*Strong organisational and time-management skills
*Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
*Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider operations team
