We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping pupils develop the skills they need to achieve greater independence, participation, and wellbeing.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
*Assess pupils’ functional, sensory, physical, and developmental needs.
*Develop and implement individualised occupational therapy programmes and interventions.
*Support pupils in developing independence, self-care, sensory regulation, motor skills, and access to learning.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
*Provide guidance and training to staff on therapeutic strategies and classroom adaptations.
*Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
*Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews where required.
*Recommend and support the use of specialist equipment, resources, and environmental adaptations.
*Promote a holistic and pupil-centred approach to therapy and wellbeing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree in Occupational Therapy.
*Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
*Experience working with children and young people, preferably within a SEND or educational setting.
*Strong understanding of sensory processing, motor development, and therapeutic interventions.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
*Experience contributing to EHCPs and working collaboratively with families and professionals is desirable.
