About the Role
The Learning Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation and service delivery of a Learning Centre within Prison Learning Design & Delivery (MOJ People and Capability). The role ensures the centre provides a safe, secure, and hygienic environment, maintaining high standards of facilities and delivering exceptional customer service at all times.
The post holder will promote and maximise the use of the Learning Centre, working closely with the External Venue Manager to ensure efficiency, best value for money, and alignment with the Prison Learning Design & Delivery operating model. They will uphold an inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment, supporting the training needs of all delegates and fostering a culture of learning and continuous development across the organisation.
Health and safety compliance is a key responsibility, alongside championing wellbeing for staff and customers, ensuring it remains central to all interactions. While the role carries no direct line management responsibilities, the Learning Centre Manager acts as a key point of contact for the centre, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for all users.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
*Drive achievement of people-related targets and strategic learning objectives across Prison Learning Design and Delivery.
*Ensure cost-effective, productive, and customer-focused learning environments.
*Champion group values and deliver excellent customer service.
*Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships; promote facilities to government agencies.
*Maintain a discrimination-free, inclusive learning environment meeting delegate training needs.
*Oversee health & safety compliance, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
*Manage Learning Centre facilities: safe, secure, hygienic, and fully utilised.
*Handle diary management, event & training bookings and key holding.
*Manage training rooms, ICT systems, and provide support to trainers and delegates.
*Set up classrooms and procure materials/services within budget.
*Respond to customer complaints and requests promptly; drive continuous improvement.
*Act as Fire Marshal and First Aider; conduct statutory fire alarm tests.
*Serve as Vetting Contact Point and Care Team member.
*Deliver management information reports, course evaluations, and utilisation data.
*Ensure data protection and information assurance compliance.
*Review Service Level Agreements as needed.
*Assist with interviews and participate in projects when required.

Base location and travel requirements
The successful candidate will be based at Woodhill Learning Centre, Tattenhoe Street, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. MK4 4DA. On occasion, travel may be required to other managed Learning Centres.

Essential
*Problem solving with ability to create resolutions
*Excellent organisation skills and written/verbal communication skills.
*IT literate with very good working knowledge of Microsoft applications
*Ability to engage with, enthuse and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders and organisations
*Experience of being able to manage different priorities and remain under pressure
Desirable
*Functional level 2 English and Maths
*Business Admin L3 or equivalent
*First aid trained.
*Care Team trained
*Experience of working across complex groups/organisations
Please note that whilst we don’t assess or score ’desirable’ criteria, we may consider evidence provided that demonstrates meeting the desirable elements of the role, but only after scoring behaviours and the statement of suitability where there is a need to differentiate between closely scored candidates.
