Full job descriptionInterim Finance Officer | Globally Renowned Music Agency | 12 Months | Outside IR35
Harmonic are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with an award-winning international classical music and artist management agency, in the search for a Finance Officer to join their close-knit finance team on an interim, maternity cover basis. This role, sitting Outside IR35, is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-driven finance professional to play a hands-on role within a globally respected arts organisation.
The Business:
Our client is a globally renowned classical music and artist management agency with a heritage spanning over four decades. Offering strategic, personalised management to more than 140 world-class and emerging artists, alongside internationally acclaimed orchestras and ensembles, they are celebrated for creating new and innovative projects around the world.
With a highly experienced team of over 40 people based across London, Berlin and New York, the business continues to explore what it means to bring classical music to life in the 21st century. Their work is driven by a clear set of values: integrity, support, dynamism and innovation - and they pride themselves on a collaborative, arts-focused culture where a genuine affinity for classical music and the arts is truly valued.
The Role:
Working within a small, collaborative finance team and reporting into the senior finance leadership, the Finance Officer will provide vital cover across the day-to-day finance function during a period of maternity leave. The role blends internal finance responsibilities with regular external contact, working closely with the agency’s artists, promoters and suppliers.
This is a broad, hands-on position ideally suited to someone organised, accurate and confident managing a varied workload. Over time, there will be scope to get involved in month-end reporting, VAT and management accounts, as well as sharing informal oversight of a finance administrator (no formal line management responsibility).
Main Duties:
*Post daily client and artist account bank transactions and complete regular bank reconciliations
*Review and reconcile artist-related balances (debtors ledger, expenses to recharge, withholding tax) on a monthly basis
*Prepare and send artists’ monthly statements, monitor aged debt and follow up on overdue balances and outstanding queries
*Manage the shared finance inboxes, ensuring queries from non-finance staff and external contacts are acknowledged and routed appropriately
*Import sales invoices into the accounting software and support the preparation of payment runs for review and approval
*Support reconciliations of control accounts, ledgers and other finance schedules
*Support VAT and tax administration, and assist with month-end reporting and management accounts over time
*Handle confidential financial information with discretion, and help maintain finance process notes, checklists and standard operating procedures
*Carry out ad-hoc finance administration and project support as required, including through the current Sage to Xero system migration
What we need to see (essential):
*Experience using Xero and / or Sage
*AAT background or qualified by experience
*Confident use of Microsoft Excel and Word
*Clear written communication skills, comfortable with artist-facing correspondence
What we’d like to see (bonus):
*Experience in music / arts / creative industries
*Natural interest in this space
*Client account experience gained in a similar environment
Day Rate: £200 - £250 a day (Outside IR35)
Location: Central London - hybrid working, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
Start Date: Early September
