Title: Purchaser
Role and Responsibilities:
The purpose of the role is to ensure the continuous and efficient availability of goods and materials required to support the organization’s operational and customer requirements. The role is responsible for translating demand and inventory requirements into timely purchasing and replenishment actions, while balancing availability, stock levels, lead times, costs and supplier performance.
The role also contributes to cost optimization, inventory management, supplier performance and continuous improvement of purchasing and planning processes.
*Ensure goods and materials are purchased in a timely, cost-effective and compliant manner by monitoring purchasing requirements, ensuring adherence to agreed supplier contracts and commercial arrangements, and maintaining professional and effective relationships with assigned suppliers.
*Request, evaluate and compare supplier quotations and support price negotiations with existing suppliers to achieve competitive commercial terms while maintaining appropriate quality and service levels.
*Maintain accurate and up-to-date master data and purchasing records for articles, assortments and items, enabling effective daily monitoring of stock positions and agreed minimum and maximum stock levels.
*Support the Purchasing Manager in continuously improving and optimizing procurement activities and processes, including participation in relevant projects and improvement initiatives.
*Verify the receipt of goods by comparing delivered items against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies, shortages, damages or other delivery issues with suppliers in a timely manner.


Qualifications


*Bachelors degree or CIPs would be considered an advantage
*Proven work experience in purchasing
*Working with ERP systems such as Sumatra & Exact would be an advantage


Demonstrable knowledge
*Good understanding of procurement, purchasing and supply chain processes
*Knowledge of demand and supply planning principles
*Understanding of inventory management, including minimum/maximum stock levels, safety stock and replenishment
*Understanding of supplier lead times, capacity, delivery performance and constraints
*Awareness of the impact of purchasing decisions on customer service
*Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their application to purchasing and planning


Skills
*Strong numerical & analytical ability
*Strong attention to detail
*Prioritising purchasing requirements according to business needs
*Identifying supplier risks and taking preventive actions
*Good oral and written communication;
*MS office skills
