Job type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
SJC Partners is recruiting on behalf of an established law firm in Newcastle seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join its busy residential property team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with conveyancing experience who is organised, client-focused and keen to develop their career within a supportive legal environment.
Working closely with conveyancers and other members of the property team, you will provide administrative and legal support across a varied caseload of residential conveyancing transactions.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Supporting conveyancers with sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity
*Opening new files and completing initial compliance checks
*Requesting searches and relevant property documentation
*Preparing correspondence and standard legal documents
*Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors
*Providing clients with regular updates on the progress of their transactions
*Managing incoming telephone calls and emails
*Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files
*Using the firm’s case management system
*Assisting with exchange, completion and post-completion tasks
*Providing general administrative support to the conveyancing team
About you:
*Previous experience in a conveyancing or legal assistant role
*An understanding of the residential conveyancing process
*Strong administrative and organisational skills
*Excellent attention to detail
*A professional and confident telephone manner
*Good written and verbal communication skills
*The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
*A proactive and flexible approach to work
*Strong IT skills and confidence using case management systems
*The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
