Basic Salary: From £50,000 FTE
Potential Total Earnings: Approximately £63,000–£85,000
Hours: 09:30-16:30pm with travel before and after required.
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time or Part-Time
Are you an Optometrist who wants your clinical skills to make a genuine difference to patients’ everyday lives?
Insightful Recruitment is working with a progressive domiciliary eye care provider that delivers high-quality eye examinations predominantly in care homes.
This is not a high-pressure, transactional domiciliary role. The focus is on providing thorough, ethical, and compassionate eye care to patients who may be living with dementia or other complex needs.
The RoleYou will work alongside a highly trained Optical Assistant who manages the clinic, supports the patient journey and completes appropriate delegated tasks. This allows you to concentrate on delivering excellent clinical care.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Providing thorough eye examinations within care-home environments
*Completing refraction
*Identifying changes in vision and recommending appropriate eyewear
*Recognising pathology and making suitable referrals
*Supporting patients who may be anxious or have communication difficulties
*Maintaining accurate records through a fully paperless system
*Working collaboratively with your Optical Assistant and the wider clinical team
*Delivering commercially sustainable clinics without compromising patient care
You will have access to high-quality portable equipment, including an autorefractor, slit lamp, iCare tonometer and digital test charts.
Clinics generally operate between approximately 9:30am and 4:30pm, with travel required before and after. Optometrists can meet their Optical Assistant or travel directly to the venue where practical.
About YouYou must be:
*A GOC-registered Optometrist
*Compassionate and comfortable working with older and vulnerable patients
*An excellent communicator
*Organised and reliable
*Commercially aware while maintaining an ethical, patient-first approach
*Comfortable using technology and paperless systems
*Able to manage your time and work independently
*Coachable and willing to understand a different approach to domiciliary eyecare
The Package*Basic salary starting from £50,000 FTE
*Potential total earnings of approximately £63,000–£85,000
*Performance-related earnings that reward hard work, organisation and consistent clinic delivery—not pressure-selling
*Flexible three, four or five-day working patterns
*Monday - Friday - No weekends!
*High-quality portable clinical equipment
*Support from a trained Optical Assistant
*Access to an experienced team of domiciliary Optometrists
*Flexible mileage, travel or car allowance arrangements depending on location
