Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Newcastle City Council)
Pay Rate: £28.00 per hour
Contract: Initial 4-week placement (with a strong likelihood of extension)
Are you an experienced Adult Social Care practitioner looking for your next contract? Newcastle City Council is seeking a Progressed Social Worker to join their dynamic Community Mental Health Social Work Team.
This role is ideal for a skilled practitioner who can step in, deliver high-quality social work interventions, and support adults experiencing mental health difficulties to live safely and independently within the community.
Key Responsibilities
*Carry a caseload of adults with complex needs, primarily focusing on individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.

*Complete strengths-based assessments, care planning, and robust risk management under Adult Social Care frameworks.

*Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, health partners, and community services to achieve positive outcomes.

*Apply statutory guidance, including the Care Act 2014 and relevant mental health legislation, to protect and empower vulnerable adults.

Candidate Requirements
*Social Work qualification and active registration with Social Work England.

*Proven experience as a Progressed / Experienced Social Worker within Adult Social Care.

*Direct experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties is highly desirable.

*Strong assessment, report-writing, and complex decision-making skills.
