Full job descriptionJob Title: Standalone HR Advisor
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: Chester, occasionally supporting other locations
My client is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their team in Chester, providing HR support across a number of office locations. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HR professional who enjoys working independently, building strong relationships with managers, and playing a key role in shaping the employee experience across the full employment lifecycle.
Key Duties
Employee Relations
*Provide practical and professional HR guidance to managers and employees.
*Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence cases.
*Support investigations and formal HR meetings.
*Coach managers on effective people management and best practice.
*Ensure HR processes are applied consistently and in line with current legislation.
Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle
*Oversee recruitment activities from advertising through to appointment.
*Coordinate onboarding, inductions and probation reviews.
*Prepare employment contracts and associated HR documentation.
*Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
*Manage changes to employment and offboarding processes.
HR Policies & Compliance
*Review and update HR policies, procedures and documentation.
*Maintain compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
*Identify potential HR risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
*Ensure employee records are accurate, secure and confidential.
*Work with external HR and employment law specialists when required.
*Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
Learning & Development
*Coordinate training activities and learning programmes.
*Maintain training records and compliance documentation.
*Support performance and development discussions across the business.
*Identify opportunities to enhance employee skills and engagement.
HR Administration & Reporting
*Maintain HR systems and personnel files.
*Produce management information and HR reports.
*Monitor absence, turnover and other key workforce metrics.
*Liaise with payroll providers and support payroll-related processes.
*Prepare HR correspondence and documentation.
*Provide wider administrative support to the business.
*Deputise for the Practice Manager when required.
Requirements
*Previous experience in an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or similar position.
*Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
*Proven experience handling employee relations cases independently.
*Experience advising, supporting and coaching managers.
*Ability to support teams across multiple office locations.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
*High levels of discretion, professionalism and integrity.
*CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent practical experience, is essential.
*Experience operating as a standalone HR professional or within a multi-site organisation would be advantageous.
