Location: Kidlington
Contract Type: Temporary (March 2027)
Hourly Rate: £32.51 per hour
Working Pattern: Full Time, 36 hours per week, Hybrid, 8:40am - 17:00pm Monday - Thursday 08:40am - 16:00pm - Friday
**Please note this role is subject to Police Vetting, you need to have resided within the UK for a minimum of 5 years continually**
Our client, a dynamic organisation within the public services sector, is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join their team. This role is pivotal in managing the financial intricacies of various force projects and ensuring the alignment of financial performance with project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Take full ownership of end-to-end financial management for force projects, including budgeting, reporting, and adherence to capital policies.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with project managers to evaluate financial performance in the context of project milestones and outcomes, ensuring financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Financial Excellence: Champion a culture of financial literacy and best practises, promoting transparency and driving value for money in all financial operations.
Business Case Support: Work alongside Business Case authors to develop robust financial assessments, ensuring accurate representation of financial risks and benefits for informed decision-making.
Forecasting and Reporting: Review and refine financial forecasts in partnership with project managers, providing critical insights to support stage gate decisions.
Medium-Term Planning: Assist the Head of FP&A in delivering the Medium-Term Financial Plan and Capital Plan, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Procurement Leadership: Act as the financial lead in preparing commercial tenders and ensuring compliance with procurement policies, maximising value for money.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
*Qualifications: CCAB Qualified Accountant with ongoing membership in a relevant professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW).
*Experience: Proven experience in project and capital accounting, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies.
*Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and influencing abilities, with a knack for building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
*Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and drive strategic decisions.
*Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial information systems are essential.
*Deadline-Driven: Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
