About the RoleAre you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who benefit from specialised educational settings? We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Worker to join a supportive alternative provision in the Poulton area.
This role begins on 1st September on a temporary basis, with the genuine view of transitioning into a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities*Mentoring & Wellbeing: Provide 1-to-1 and small group pastoral support, acting as a trusted mentor to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour.
*Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalate situations calmly, and encourage productive engagement in learning.
*Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to track student progress, monitor attendance, and update support plans.
*Safeguarding: Actively promote and safeguard the welfare of all students in line with school policies and statutory guidelines.
What We Are Looking For*Experience: Previous experience working with young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, or residential care setting.
*Empathy & Resilience: A calm, patient, and resilient approach with a strong commitment to trauma-informed practice.
*Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive rapport with disengaged or vulnerable students, as well as their families and staff.
*Availability: Ready to start on 1st September.
