Full job descriptionDebbie Burbage Recruitment are working exclusively with our Kettering based client who, following an internal promotion, is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.
This is a great opportunity to join an established and structured business in a busy, varied role where you will become an integral part of the finance team. The position offers a good mix of day-to-day accounting responsibilities, month-end support and the opportunity to work with colleagues and stakeholders across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
This is a varied, hands-on finance role where you will be involved across a broad range of accounting activities and play an important part in supporting the smooth running of the finance function. Your responsibilities will include:
*Taking ownership of bank reconciliations, including managing exchange rate variations
*Preparing VAT returns and supporting the submission process
*Maintaining and monitoring cash flow information, including payments and Debtor analysis
*Completing general ledger reconciliations and investigating any discrepancies
*Preparing and processing monthly supplier payment runs
*Managing prepayments and accruals as part of the month-end process
*Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
*Providing support and cover across Purchase Ledger when required
*Managing finance-related administration for the company fleet
*Producing ad hoc financial reports and analysis to support the wider business
*Working closely with colleagues across the business and liaising with external customers and suppliers
*Supporting the wider finance team with additional projects and activities as required
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with previous experience working within a busy accounts environment who is confident managing a varied workload and comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities. You will have very good Excel skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately while managing competing priorities.
You will be a genuine team player who is happy to support colleagues when needed, while equally being comfortable working independently and using your own initiative. Excellent communication skills are important, as the role involves regular liaison with both internal and external customers, so you will need to be confident, professional and approachable in your communication style.
Above all, you will be someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in doing a good job and is happy to get involved wherever needed within a busy finance function.
Remuneration
*£30,000 – circa £33,000 per annum depending on experience
*Monday to Thursday 8.30-5.00 pm, early finish on a Friday (office based)
*25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
*On site Parking, Life Assurance x3 and Company Pension
