We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to join an established children’s residential service in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior or Deputy Manager who is passionate about supporting children and young people and wants to develop their leadership and management career within residential childcare.
The service provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for young people who may have emotional and behavioural needs, with a strong focus on therapeutic and individualised care.
The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the home, supporting both the staff team and the young people.
You will deputise for the Registered Manager when required and help ensure the home operates in line with regulatory requirements, safeguarding procedures and organisational policies.
The role is Monday to Friday, with some flexibility depending on the needs of the service and the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
*Support the Registered Manager with the effective running of the home
*Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence
*Lead, support and motivate the residential care team
*Provide guidance and support to staff on shift
*Help maintain consistently high standards of care
*Support the development and wellbeing of children and young people
*Ensure care plans, risk assessments and records are maintained appropriately
*Promote safeguarding and ensure relevant procedures are followed
*Support compliance with legislation, regulations and organisational policies
*Work effectively with families, social workers and other professionals
*Contribute to staff supervision, training and development
*Support health and safety requirements within the home
*Act as a positive role model for both staff and young people
About You
Essential:
*QCF/NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent
*Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Senior or Shift Leader within a residential setting
*Full UK manual driving licence
*Strong leadership and communication skills
*Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
*Good understanding of safeguarding and statutory requirements
*Knowledge of health & safety and risk assessments
*Basic IT skills
*Flexible approach to the needs of the service
*Genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
Desirable:
*Level 4 Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent
*Registered with Social Care Wales, or willing and eligible to register
*Previous experience working with children and young people
*Experience within children’s residential care
*Welsh-speaking ability
